Welcome to "my" home page! My name is Jess Olonoff and I am now a "Scouter" or Scout Leader in the Lighthouse District of the South Florida Council.
I have one son who is now a Boy Scout. My wife, son and I have lived in Parkland, Florida for twelve years. We now live in Coral Springs, Florida. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and went through the Cub program there.
My family moved to Oklahoma when I was 11 and I completed the Boy Scout program there. I am an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of the O.A. I worked on the staff at Camp Garland in Locust Grove Oklahoma during the summer of 1970.
After moving to Florida in 1971, I returned to Scouting in Boca Raton as a JASM (Junior Asst. Scoutmaster) for a short time.
We joined Pack 203 which later became Pack 206 in September of 1994. I became Cubmaster of Pack 206 in November of 1994. I served as Cubmaster of Pack 206 chartered to Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland until April of 1998. My wife was our Den Leader for four years and my Assistant CubMaster for two years.
My son earned his Arrow of Light and he and I both joined the Troop 836 "Pumpkins." My wife, Carol, has also joined the Troop as a committee member this past year and is already a part of our major event Webelos Winter Weekend.
I am now a member of Boy Scout Troop 836 of Margate, Florida, where I am on the Troop Committee and serve as Advancement Chair. I am also on the District Roundtable Staff, District Committee, and produce our District Newsletter and Web page. I also have a web page called The Scouters' Memorial.
At this year's District Dinner I was presented with the honor of receiving the District Award of Merit as well as being voted Scouter of the Year.
Thanks again for visiting and for your interest.
