Camp Everglades

Little is known of this South Florida Council Camp ... in the Everglades

The only private camping area in the National Everglades Park this unusual National Pine Hammock shelter is a 253 acre wonderland.

This primitive campground has eight campsites, a main campfire arena, and pump wells.

Each site has an open shelter with patrol tables and a fire area .. water and latrine facilities at each site (not always available).

Located just inside the National Park entrance - Camp Everglades is a primitive type camp area ... all equipment and supplies need to be carried in... Remember that this is the Everglades, so be prepared for insects and animals.

A large area has also been cleared for activities. Troops may also visit the Royal Palm Visitors Station via hiking or bicycling.

The Pine Hammock also provides an excellent wild life area for Scoutcraft Program ... flowers, animals, insects, reptiles and water fowl are abundant in their season.

Reservations are made through the Council Office - Tour permit required for admission to the Park System.
