Two Letter Position Codes

Subject: Council position codes

Many of these codes are used only on district/council recharter rosters, since they are unique to either the professional staff or to district/council positions. The merit badge counselor (42) is a district position in our council, so I assume it is that way universally. I believe I have seen 88/96 on my district charter.

In our council, we have six non-unit charters, the professional staff listing, the council volunteer listing (president, VPs, Executive Board, Advisor Board, etc., etc.), and four separate district charters. I assume it would be similar in each council.

Varsity in the Scout Troop is being phased out, and the literature and insignia will migrate to using only Venture in the Scout Troop. This makes it simpler for the ordinary troop.

Varsity as a separate chartered unit is alive and well, primarily sponsored by LDS partners, with no contemplated change in their program, which fits their needs quite well.

The available positions for 18-year olds are DA, WA, SA, and maybe (I'm not sure) VA. All others require 21. (Well, maybe merit badge counselors could be 18, I don't really know.)
