Subject: Passing of a great Scout Master
========================================

Mr. Richard Gibson

Not more than a few minutes ago, I received a call from a young women that I had not spoken to in years. She informed me that her father had passed away on June 21 due to a heart attack.

Her father was Richard (Gibby) Gibson and had been the Scoutmaster of Troop 494 in Solley Maryland, part of the Baltimore Area Council.

Gibby was very special to me and many boys in the mid 60's and 70's ....he pushed me to make Eagle Scout and I did. He made me also get involved in the OA, which I am to this day. (Gibby was a Vigil Honor member with Nentico Lodge #12)

When my father passed away, I had Gibby...when I was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy...there was Gibby and when I retired from the Navy..Gibby was there in a letter.

Just recently, Gibby had permission to start a new troop on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

If you are ever on the eastern shore of Maryland.. stop by the Preston National Cemetery and pause to remember a great Scout Master.

Yours in Scouting,
