Ms. Robin L. Grasic
Robin L Grasic was/is my friend.
We met 27 years ago when she was a Cadette Girl Scout at Camp Helena and I was
a Unit Leader. We became fast friends even though there was almost 9 years difference
in our
ages. Robin stayed in Girl Scouts all her life. When she was old enough she
had a troop and continued volunteering at camp.
She ran events for our council for
over 20 years; received every Adult Recognition from council -wide to the Thanks
Badge and even got a community service award from our local newspaper for the
work she did with the underprivileged girls.
Robin worked on many committees
for Girl Scouting; our Adult Weekends, Game of Life, Ego Trip 1 & 2 besides
being on the Camp Task Force and Financial Aide committee. Her commitment
to girls and leaders knew no bounds.
For the last 6 years Robin had a
rare breathing illness. Her airways were narrowing & the doctors couldn't
figure out why. They gave her two years maybe, but Robin wouldn't give in to
it. She continued to run her family, volunteer and live. She took her
oxygen tanks to camp. She volunteered at her church. She didn't give up.
The girls lives she touched are
many; the friends she made over the years are too numerous to even consider
counting. Over 600 people attended her viewing last night. We did a Scouts
Own ceremony for her & it was beautiful. She was a true Girl Scout
all the way. She will be greatly missed, but a little of her lives on
in each of us whose lives she touched with her commitment, love, loyalty &
courage.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell you about my good friend and
sister scout.
Your friend in Scouting
Renee Glover
ps: When I signed on and heard Amazing Grace it was like I was supposed
to write. Robin's brother, Jim plays the bagpipes and he played Amazing Grace
for Robin; it was so beautiful!
